fail & mail

Alright, so, I failed.
I honestly didn't take a single picture all during our 4th of July family reunion festivities.  I guess I was just too wrapped up in enjoying the day, the family, the fireworks, and the fact that David didn't have to go to work.  Ah well, we had a great time, and now it's back to reality (which isn't too bad either).

In other news we got ourselves TWO lovely packages in the mail the other day.  Don't you just love getting packages?  They're pretty much the best - I'm a big fan of snail mail.

1) In honor of the upcoming London Olympics, my mom* put together a red, white, & blue party in a box, complete with pom poms, glow bracelets, and pinwheels.
* To clue you in, my mom used to have the Olympic theme song as her ring tone - we're kind of big Olympics fans over in the Tobler home.

And I'm pretty sure we're going to have to throw a big celebratory shindig for the opening ceremonies (July 27th!) - I can't wait!

and 2) our WEDDING ALBUM is finally here!  And I love, love, love, love it!  Thank you Pinhole Press!  You're the best!

done.

Alright.  I'm going to brag a little bit.  You ready for it?

It has only taken me a few long short 10 months, BUT - - - I'm finished with our wedding album!

I know, I know.  Hold your applause.

It was my task to choose my 97 favorites out of the nearly 1,100 pictures taken on our wedding day.  I tell ya, it's wasn't easy to narrow down those lovely things.

I used Pinhole Press and was really impressed with how user friendly they were...I'll let you know how the finished product turns out when I get it back in a week or two (insert excited happy face here).

P.S. I did a little bit of P90X Yoga yesterday (as in I did 30 minutes out of the hour and a half work out on the DVD because my elbows were giving out) and I am SO SORE today.  What the what?  I only did 30 minutes!  Dear P90X, you are ridiculous, but I really want to master your yoga DVD. . . see you when my body heals up.

one hundred

That's right.

The Mr. & I have been married 100 days today.

Time is a funny thing my friends.

It sure does fly when you're having so much fun :)

personality

You knew it was coming.

wedding pictures.

However, in an attempt to avoid completely and utterly boring you with a slew of dresses, ties & decorations I'm going to choose only my very favorite personality shots from our big day.

You know, the ones you might not really want to frame (ok I'd frame some anyways), but that you love?

Yeah, those ones.

Please enjoy.

We got the disc of our wedding pictures back this afternoon.

I can tell you right now that I'm not going to be able to control myself.

Prepare yourself for a picture OVERLOAD.

P.S. Halloween party recaps soon to come as well!

When I saw this save the date I said to myself,

"That is adorable.  I wish I had one for us."

the dress

Upon checking my email this morning I found more than a couple comments on my wedding dress and questions about where I got it.

Can I tell you how happy it makes me that other people like my wedding dress?
(and that other people read this blog)
Because I love it.

My dress was actually custom made by none other than the lovely and most talented Nancy Barrus at Avenia Bridal here in Provo, Ut.

yes.

Just right here in Provo behind Mimi's Cafe off University.

Who would have guessed?

Not me.

She was just down right darling to work with and helped me figure out what was completely and utterly perfect for me.

However, that does not mean I didn't spend hours upon hours looking up inspiration, going dress shopping and quite honestly having no idea what I wanted my wedding dress to look like.

After much searching I finally found this lovely creation
(go through Ben & Elise's slide show on the right)
and I knew I'd found something I was crazy about.

I took those pictures to Nancy and she whipped up a couple of sketches like it was no big deal:

I also rather hope you noticed that my dress is not in fact white,
or even off white.

It's pink!

Nancy spent lots of extra hours getting that shade just right and it turned out better than I could have ever hoped for.

Now let's hold on for a second.
I feel the need to admit something here:

Getting my dress made was probably the single most terrifying thing about planning my wedding.

There, I said it.

I went from this:

(yes I did take pictures at every fitting)

To this:

And the in-between involved a lot of trusting Nancy.

Talk about a nail-bitter.

So that is my long, picture-loaded story of the dress.

I hope those of you who had questions found it helpful.
You are welcome around these parts anytime.

funny story

I just found a list I made this summer of all David's suggestions for our reception

Among other things, he wanted a tire swing hanging from the big oak tree in the courtyard,
a coloring book for guests to sign-in and
tray passed mini pizzas as h'orderves.

We nixed those first two.

But, if you were there, you know we kept the mini pizzettes .

Good idea sweetheart ;)

in love

And these pictures prove it.

Our wedding photographer blogged the sweetest little post about shooting our wedding day.

I'm in love all over again.

Please enjoy the rest of them here

metal head

so this one time I got my hair done for my wedding...

it took almost 2 hours to style
215 bobby pins

and when you add the broach that I wore in my hair to the reception the whole
thing weighed about 6 ounces

...and all that was pinned to my head!

these are the sacrifices we make for beauty.
