Early Tuesday morning I hopped in the car, braved LA commuter traffic, and got in line at Barnes & Noble at The Grove to buy Tim Gunn's new book.

There just happens to be Barnes & Noble right down the street from us, but if I drove (an hour & 45 minutes) to LA - are you ready for it? - we could get wristbands to go to Tim Gunn's book signing that night!

We were, you know, a little excited about it.

I gotta tell you, I don't get star-struck easily, but we are pretty big Tim Gunn fans around here (yeah, even David), so this was a ridiculously fun night.  And he is just what you'd expect: striped suit, patterned shirt, and so gracious to all the people that were there to meet him - it was just like he walked out of our TV and into Barnes & Noble!

Needless to say, it was worth the early morning.  Tim is one nice guy and our new claim to fame is that he told David he looked good in his T-shirt and shorts (!!).  We completely enjoyed ourselves and wished we could have listened to him talk longer.

We now officially refer to him as our friend Tim.

P.S. We were thinking of you Megan & Kristin!  Tim says hi!

(you know, when I don't come to class with a big bun on my head)

shiny & stylin'

Sparkles.  The holiday season is chalk full of them.  Perhaps that's why I've had a thing for sequins lately.  I love how they add a little more pizzazz to an outfit, but still stay so classy - I just can't seem to find any sequined pieces under $70...

Thought process: buy blouse or pay heating bill?

Weigh pros and cons.  

Decide the blouse won't keep me warm enough to justify not paying for heating.

Darn.

Until then I guess I'm still on the hunt - any suggestions?

So you thought I was kidding about this turning into my wedding blog.
Nope.
Totally serious:

dress shopping

aka: the hardest part of planning this wedding

(right after picking a date and finding a venue for my reception)

here's how it went: 

We went for the first time this last Saturday afternoon,

and thanks to David's impeccable timing I got to bring all these ladies with me:

We had a ridiculous amount of fun trying on many, many more dresses than there are pictures on this post and taking an equally ridiculous amount of pictures

And so the search has officially begun.

I'm thinking a t length dress could be fun...?

Simple?

No beading?

Lace?
Scoop neck?
Sweetheart?
Quarter-length sleeves?
Cap sleeves?
White?
Ivory?

Okay, I'm still working on it.

In the meantime we're still going to have fun taking ridiculous amounts of pictures
