happy love day

What with busy season going strong these days, Clark, Dave, and I have been lucky to spend two minutes together with all three of us awake at the same time.  So I could have kissed his manager when she sent Dave home (relatively) early on Friday night and told him he didn't have to come in on Saturday.  Two whole days of being together??  We were going to live it up.

Saturday morning was just what it ought to be: a baby in pajamas and cuddling in bed.  I keep thinking certain outfits are too big for this little boy and then I wash them and...they fit exactly.  Can't believe this little chunk is growing so fast.

As per Valentines tradition there were heart shaped pancakes for breakfast and homemade whipped cream.  My favorite.

For lunch we mozied on up to a local haunt we've been wanting to try called The Braise and Crumble.  Doesn't the name just sound delicious?  And the food was just as good.

I love that picture of Clark on my lap - he looks so tiny!  And on the stroll home we were sure this little bug was planning something devious...

I will never admit how many pictures we took trying to smooch those little cheeks just right.  But it was a lot.

"Hey baby, I'm a sucker for you.  Happy Valentine's Day." - Clark

15th is the new 14th

Valentine's Day.  Something about me still loves it: all the lovey dovey-ness, chocolates, and husbands running to the florist after work to pick up a bouquet for their misses.  It gets me every time.  But since David's flight home didn't touched down till 9:30 in the PM on Friday, we were short on celebration time and were wiped out to boot (he'd been traveling/ working all day and I was in the car for 4ish hours that day - darn you Jamzilla!).  So we rescheduled for the next day and went right to bed when we got home.

Turns out I married a pretty sweet guy.  I woke up to the smell of pancakes and walked out to find two huge bunches of tulips on the table.  There are definite perks to his internal clock still being on central time: he'd gone to the grocery store (at like 6:45 AM) to get all the fixings.  What a doll.

Those chocolates are almost gone, the pancakes were heavenly, and we topped the day off with a showing of The Monuments Men, which was pretty great.

It can be belated Valentine's Day every Saturday as far as I'm concerned.

today

Today was all about Valentine's, X's & O's, and fresh blooms.  Our first few weeks in February are going to be very busy so I've decided to squeeze out as much lovey, dovey, festivity as possible while I've got time.
And I'm not even sorry about it.

the 14th

Our Valentine's day in pictures:

It was a lovely lunch.
Oh, you thought we had time to make this before Dave's 8:00 AM class?

Fooled ya!

P.S. Things definitely tasted better shaped like hearts.

early presents

My plan didn't exactly line up with the 14th so we had to improvise.

1) A 'romantic' crock-pot dinner was planned and prepared and eaten.

A little taste of home-style cookin' (thanks to a recipe book full of my momma's best) and do you like our little Hawaii magnet?  It is seriously the only thing we brought back from our honeymoon.  I had such plans to collect some serious tangible memories...turns out stuff is more expensive in the middle of the Pacific ocean (and I didn't need a hula boy for my dashboard).

And then off to the main event.

2) Tickets to The 39 Steps at the Hale Center Theatre in Orem
Last time I saw this play I was on another lovely island toward the east:

The plane flight wasn't quite so long to the theatre Thursday night, but the show was just as good.

p.s. have you ever been to the Hale Center Theatre, my dear Utah friends?  It's kind of adorable - and to be honest we were among the youngest folks in the audience.  It was awesome.

All in all a great date night.  We just pretended it was the 14th ;)

v-day

You only really get 14 days in February to decorate for Valentines day, so I made an executive decision for our house:
I started decorating for Valentine's day over a month ago.

I blame Pinterest for the inspiration (as always).

And then it was all downhill from there:

Only 5 more days to keep em' up!
Then I'm going to have to figure out how to decorate with four-leaf clovers...

the friendliest flowers

A bouquet of daisies.

That's what that darling man showed up with on my doorstep at 7:45 AM yesterday.
Oh, and he brought me a heart shaped tin full of chocolates too.

Cheesy?
Probably.
Have I always wanted one?
Yes.

And he knows me all too well.

He then proceeded to make me a steak dinner that night,
(almost burning my apartment down in the process - we're learning how to use a cast iron skillet to the dismay of my poor kitchen/roommates)
and snuggled up with me to watch Sleepless in Seattle.

Is there a better way to spend Valentine's Day?

I'd like to submit that there is not.

day 6

love

pictures
(noun)

aka:
tangible memories

My decision:

Sometimes it's annoying to smile for the camera,

but when it's all said and done aren't you always glad you you did it?

food for thought

day 4

love

music
(noun)

the cause of all

{ and all these people agree with me }

I submit that there are few things better than rolling down the windows,
finding a good song on the radio,
and car-dancing to your heart's content
while belting out lyrics you only know the chorus to.

OR

Putting that one song that reminds you of that one good time on repeat for a while.

OR

Simply doing your homework serenaded by Chopin, Mozart and Beethoven.

Thank you for the music.
