our favorite movie

Tonight David and I are watching You've Got Mail.

In reality we are both sitting on the couch (me, Craigslisting - Dave, playing Angry Birds).  The funny thing is, we don't even need to look at the TV to enjoy this movie.  Somehow I managed to marry a man who can sit with me on a Sunday night, request my favorite chick flick, and quote it word for word with me even if he's not looking at the screen.

I married well.

marriage, among other things

Somehow we haven't had ice cream in the house for the last couple of weeks.
I know.
I know.
I have no idea how this happened either.  We've been busy eating no-bake cookies and who knows what else and somehow ice cream didn't make its way back into our freezer til this Thursday.

The trouble is we've got quite a bit of it on hand now:

Count em'.  That's four gallons right there . . .

You see, I picked up two gallons Thursday afternoon (two for $5.00 of course - how could I resist?).
Chocolate for me and cookies n' cream for David.

Then I sent Dave to the market after work to grab me an avocado for dinner and he, being the cute, thoughtful guy he is, brought me home two gallons of ice cream.
Chocolate for me and cookies n' cream for him.

I laughed so hard when he walked in the door.
We know each other too well - more importantly we both knew it was high time we got ice cream back in the house.

Is he the guy for me or what?

& then there were two

The married life:
5 things you can't blame on your roommates anymore...

Disclaimer: I've always had the best roommates (what can I say?  I have the best girl friends), however, girls will be girls...

1) The heating bill
Single Excuse: "We split it four ways - no big deal."
Married Excuse: "We haven't cranked it up to 80 that many times this month, right...?"

2) Locking the front door
Single Excuse: "I knew you wouldn't get home from your date til past midnight and I didn't want to lock you out..."
Married Excuse: "You came to bed last."

3) Doing the dishes
Single Excuse: "There are four of us cooking and eating here, of course things will build up."
Married Excuse: "We have to hand-wash everything (no dishwasher in our married pad), of course things will build up."

4) Taking out the trash
Single Excuse: "There are four of us living here, I'm pretty sure one of us will think to to take it out sometime."
Married Excuse: "There are two of us living here, I'm pretty sure one of us will think to to take it out sometime."

And the real kicker...
5) Hair in the shower
Single Excuse: "That hair is too light/ to long/ too something to be mine."
Married Excuse: NO EXCUSE

extra extra!

Look who made the front page!

My old roommate is in charge of putting together BYU's Bridal Guide magazine and she needed a picture for the cover so of course I told her she was welcome to choose from any of our wedding pictures and...
 whala!

Presto cover girl!

I also might have picked up 5 copies yesterday to send to friends and family...and felt really weird about it while cramming them into my purse and running out of the building before anyone could see me.

In other news I got the sweetest package from my mom today.

In 2005 (a whopping 6 years ago) I wrote a few letters to my future husband:

Apparently when I was 14 I had dreams of becoming an interior decorator (I forgot about that ambition) and I dotted my exclamation points with little hearts.

I talked about how I wanted him to propose ("in a cute way" - I wasn't quite particular), where we would live (I had my heart set on California back then) and what I thought he would look like (tall, dark & handsome).

Too funny.

But also too fun to read with my man all these years later.

I am officially a fan of time capsules.

confession

so...
we might have just celebrated being married for a month.

and we might have just bought ourselves some pots and pans...

this weekend.

we might have been cooking out of one skillet all this time.

and perhaps we've been borrowing every needful thing from my sister-in-law for a month.

the truth comes out at last.

it feels good to be able to boil water again.

true love

picture

The world ought to know that I came home this evening after a long day spent on campus to find:

"the table" (aka: our island counter top) set,

music playing,

dinner waiting for me on the stove

and my husband doing our laundry.

The world ought to know that I am a very lucky girl.

time flies

A year ago today this cute boy helped move me into my new apartment.

Well...

7 months of dating,
a proposal
and a 5 month engagement later,

that same cute boy and I just moved into a little postage stamp of an apartment of our own exactly one year to the day he helped me move in last year.

Time flies when you're having fun my friends!
(and we've been having lots of it this past year)
