Has anyone else ever had a Cara Cara Orange?  I just discovered them this weekend and I think I've eaten one every day since.  They're a hybrid cross between an orange and a grapefruit and they are oh so tangy, sweet and juicy.

David peels his like an orange and I cut mine like a grapefruit.  To each their own right?

P.S. Did you know that you can get samples of the produce at the grocery store?  You learn something new everyday.

that boy's burfday

Yesterday was David's birthday!  Or pi day, depending on how nerdy you're feeling.  I surprised him with streamers on the doorway, pancakes for breakfast, and lots of texts through out the day.  Too bad we both are workin' all day long - I just wanted to celebrate!

7:00 finally came 'round and we headed over to Stonefire for dinner.  As you can see we had...a few leftovers...

The real party is going to start tomorrow morning when we show up to Six Flags Magic Mountain at 10AM sharp (as per request of the birthday boy).  I'm not sure how well I'm going to stomach these roller-coasters now days...it's been, ya know, since middle school.  We'll see how it goes...

If Pinterest is good for one thing it is definitely for finding free printable goodies.  I found this link awhile back and just couldn't resist trying it out the other day. . .

Isn't that so cute?  And it's F-R-E-E.  I just need to find me some nice paper to print it off on.

a taste of childhood

Lets be honest, Harry Potter pretty much equals childhood in my book (pun intended).

And last night a dream came true - we drank BUTTERBEER.

I was under the impression that everyone knew about these pumpkin cookies...until recently.

Allow me to introduce you to the easiest (and most delicious) cookies of the holiday seasons:

There is one thing I could eat all day, every day for a whole lot of days.

orange rolls

I made them the other afternoon and I tell you there is nothing better than licking up the remains of that orange frosting off the tinfoil.  

These rolls whisk me back to all things wonderful and delicious,

plus they make the whole of our itty-bitty apartment smell like freshly baked bread.

YUM.

I really ought to make these more often.

Hello football game, organizing our back room, catching a few more winks, front-loading for some classes, cooking a few decent meals and of course watching 4 sessions of this great event.

the best part about rainy days

Normally I'd like to have curled up with a good book while sippin' my hot cocoa, but today it was Streetsmart Financial Basics for Nonprofit Managers...

oh well. 

 

The 2nd best part, however, is that I've been ridiculously excited to use this mug since I got it for the wedding

(Dave has one too with a "D" on it...but I don't think he was quite as excited as I was)

Perhaps it's because I'm getting married in 34 days 

(15 hours, 59 minutes and 3 seconds),

or maybe it's because I'm interning with a wedding planner this summer and have gone to a wedding every weekend for 3 weeks in a row...

a summer first

So, we've been living in California since the middle of last month, but somehow David and I haven't had a spare second to escape down to the coast.

Problem solved on Thursday.

 Thank goodness!

And I only slightly burned the back of my legs!

Great success.

My next objective is to focus on getting rid of those tan lines around my neck.

You see, I had my hair and make-up preview for the big day last week (sneak peek soon to come!) and I tried on my dress and...

well, I'm not wearing a turtle-neck, so said tan lines will be completely visible.

This is a problem.

Working on it.

Sort of.

as of late:

I seem to follow a pattern with this blog...

I write so much

and then I write not so much.

I have a small hunch that these trends directly correlate with the amount of homework I'm trying to procrastinate at the time.

Seeing as how it is spring term and my homework load is close to nil I have spent very little time in the library trying my best not to write a paper and thus resorting to posting here.

So I'll try to do better, I promise.

In other news, I love this place:

Another successful trip!

a big day

Yesterday that is,

because I got to do something I've been wanting to do all winter...

I finally pulled out my Rainbows
 for the first time since last summer.

 

Yes, my friends, yesterday was finally warm enough to pull out my flip flops,

lounge in the sun a bit

and be completely, totally and incandescently happy.

Alright that's not true.

When the snow is gone for good I'll get there,

(which won't be for a while...
because it rained today, it's supposed to be cloudy tomorrow
and there's a 50% chance of thunder storms for the next day)

but for now my toes were happy for one blessed afternoon of freedom from hiding under my boots and socks.

Can we do that again soon Utah weather?

It would make me the happiest.

Is one day enough for you to get over my photo overdose yesterday?

I sure hope so because I want to show you all the fun I'm having with B/W.

Now, I'm aware that I am no Ansel Adams, 

and this isn't quite Yosemite,

but isn't black & white just the best??

Disclaimer:

I'm not much of a camper/hiker/outdoorsy individual,

however,

I think Moab is probably one of the most gorgeous places to spend a few days exploring.

That is, if you're not counting greenery,

wildlife,

and/or a viable source of water.

None of which I saw this past weekend.

But if I could camp there for 3 days and 2 nights without getting exasperated, anyone can.

Plus can I please just remind you that this was a school field trip for my photography class?

Conclusion:

I was getting college credit for hiking all around Arch's National Park and playing with my camera.
