Clark's baby blessing

Clark is one lucky boy to have two sets of grandparents that love him so much.  It's the best having my parents so close by right now, and it was such a treat to have the Nemrows come down too this past weekend to spend time with their newest grandson and be there for his baby blessing.

Norm hadn't met our little Clark yet and it was so fun to watch them get to know each other.
As you can see, they are two peas in a pod ;)

As a momma, there is nothing quite as great as watching someone else love on your baby.  These two are old pros.

What is better than grandma kisses???

The reason we got to steal away these Utah grandparents in the first place is that we blessed our sweet little babe this past Sunday in church.

The little dude was dressed to the nines and his daddy gave him a sweet blessing, promising him so many wonderful things.  As this little boy's momma, my heart is so full.  There is nothing I want more than for him to have every happiness in life.

In the morning, before we went to church, Dave asked me if there was anything I'd like for him consider including in the blessing later that afternoon.  Initially I wasn't going to add anything, and then suddenly I was spewing out everything I would ever want for my little guy: health, a testimony, marriage in the temple, serving a mission - the list just went on and on.  Having a child is literally like letting you heart walk around outside your body and I ache for him to be successful and have joy.

Family came from near and far to celebrate our little dude and we felt so very loved.

These handsome men stood in the circle with Dave to bless our little guy.  I'm so grateful for these worthy priesthood holders who joined us on this special day.

I love watching my in-laws and parents become grandparents to my little guy.

We sure love you little man.  We're so glad you're ours forever and always.

date night

Since having baby boy, Dave and I have only gone out once by ourselves sans baby boy to grab some dinner for an hour-ish while he slept at Grammy and Poppy's house.  Well, this time Grammy and Poppy pulled through again and gave us a fabulous Christmas gift: tickets to see Wicked and offering their babysitting services to watch Clark for the night.  As you can imagine, we were pretty thrilled.

And as it just turned out, Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Norm were in town too so Clark was extra well taken care of.  We were feeling really good about leaving the little guy in such capable hands.

We had planned to hit up a local Pasadena haunt for some pulled pork and hearty BBQ, but we pulled up and it was closed for a special event.  Laaaame!  Oh well.  As it turns out there was a fabulous hole in the wall Mexican joint next door with killer taquitos and freshly squeezed watermelon juice that made up for it just fine.

Pulling up to the theatre I started to get really excited.  Not only was I wearing a nice blouse that I didn't have to worry about getting baby spit up on and a pair of kicking booties, but we were seeing a great play with killer seats and David has never seen Wicked before!  He didn't even know the musical goodness that was about to hit him.

At intermission David was trying to remember a song he had liked best from the first half so I proceeded to sing the opening lines to every musical number they had done so far.  Midway through Dancing Through Life he stopped me dumbfounded and asked, How do you know all the words already??  Oh honey, I've been listening to these show tunes since I was 13.  Trust me.  I know the words.

It was such a lovely night to just get away and be the two of us again.  Somehow it's still crazy to think that this is how life used to be.  Just us going to and from as we please.  And now we sit in the theatre before the show begins and watch videos of our little munchkin and crave pictures of him at intermission.  And even though it was good to take a break, there was something so right about coming home and tip toeing into Clark's room to check on him.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

favorite moments

The thing with this little babe is, every new stage is my new favorite.  And I'm so excited for the stages to come.  I've always wanted to be a momma, but actually being a parent has been so much more fun that I could have every thought.

Here are a few of my favorite moments from the last few weeks:

Baby boy sure has one sweet aunt who bought him a Super Man piggy bank (Get it? Clark Kent? ;).  And when I went to snap a picture of him with it he flashed me this cheeky grin.  I died.  Thanks Aunt Brooke!

And even getting up in the wee hours of the morning (ok 6AM feels really wee sometimes) those big doe eyes are my everything.

This little boy really likes to sleep in his crib, so when he falls asleep in my lap I savor ever minute of it.

We also just got our Ergobaby carrier and I'm digging it.  Yes, I'm aware Clark looks like he's hanging on for dear life.  He'll warm up to it ;)

When this little chunk was born everyone said he looked just like his daddy, but as he's getting bigger more and more people are saying he looks like me.  Truthfully, I see a lot of both of us in him.  It still blows my mind that this little boy was inside of me just a little over two months ago...

I get entirely too much enjoyment out of matching this little dude.  And I think that picture on the right is my new favorite of all time.  Thanks for helping me make the bed bub!

It is the biggest treat when Dave gets home early enough to help me put this babe to bed (not a common occurrence these days).  He loves his dada so much already it just melts me.

This little babe loves holding his head up, so when he rests it on my shoulder (which is my favorite), I know it's time for a nap.  I'll plead guilty to prolonging putting him down to bask in those sweet baby sighs tickling my cheek.

And Sunday mornings are so fun because Dad can play with us.  This kid would give his dada smiles all day long.

I always want to take pictures of this kid when I'm burping him (those cheeks!) and when he's standing (he always looks so proud of himself), but obviously that's pretty hard.  So glad to catch those couple moments of this cutie when Dave was home.

I kind of adore this kid in hats, but his noggin is so lovely and large it's kinda hard to find one that fits him sometimes.  This one is a winner though.

Clark also has the sweetest aunt who knitted him this DARLING blanket that is backed with the yummiest soft lining.  It's my new favorite blanket for sure.  Thanks Aileen!

We love you so much sweet baby boy!  What did we do for fun before we stared into your blue eyes all day??

a sorta vacation

So sometimes Dave has to be gone for a week or so for business and, while that totally stinks, it is such a treat to be living close enough to my parents so that I can just pop down there for the week and hang out with them.

This time was a bit more of an adventure beeeecause...my parents are redoing their kitchen.  So we definitely played upstairs more, ate out more than usual, and made do with a make-shift mini kitchen in the garage.  It was a party ;)  But playing with Grammy and Poppy 24/7 is worth it!

Those morning toes at the breakfast table just kill me, and have I mentioned I need to buy white sheets?  Also that little confused mug is my favorite.

That little intense face is stinkin' hilarious, but not characteristic of our little dude.  That mug on the right side is more his everyday face ;)

Bath time is just that much more fun at Grammy's house.

Sleepy baby cuddles are the best and the little dude's neck has just been getting strong enough lately to start flying around the house.  He's still warming up to it, but I kinda love it.

Once Dave got back in town we went out for lunch with some of my parents friends and Clark was a champ restauranteur.  Classy little dude.

And waking up to Grammy on a Sunday morning somehow makes those cheeks extra chubby and delicious.

And last, but not least, cousin Bella was pretty great with the babe this time around.  They're a couple of buds these two.

Thanks for having us for the week mom and dad!  I'm sure we'll be back soon ;)

this kid

I have decided there is nothing better than a babe in his skivvies on a bed of crisp, white sheets, topped off with a pair of plump, pink cheeks.  I literally could not get enough of him and this buttery morning light, and thus followed this photo shoot of gargantuan proportions.

I don't regret a thing.

Also I'm going to go by white sheets asap.
